Steve Kennedy (Head Coach)
Steve grew up in Albany, Western Australia where he started coaching as a teenager assisting with learn to sail programs before going on to study Human Movement and Exercise Science at the University of Western Australia. He worked as the Fremantle Sailing Club coach for 3 years whilst studying as well as running other school holiday courses and racing groups. Steve moved to Singapore in 2003 where he has taught Elementary and Middle School Physical Education, Mathematics and Outdoor Education as well as Elementary Classroom. Founding the after school sailing program at Overseas Family School in 2022 and HiTech Sailing in 2023, Steve brings a wealth of experience coaching and teaching all ages. Registered with the National Registry of Coaches, Steve is also the current Secretary of the SB20 Association.
Cheryl Teo
With 16 years sailing experience and an Olympic campaign in the 49er FX class, winning the 2017 SEA games Gold medal along the way, Cheryl is one of the highest regarded sailors in Singapore. Her other achievements include a Bronze at the World University games, National Champion in the SB20 class and just returning from the SB20 World Championships in Dubai where together with Daniel she finshed 22nd overall. Cheryl holds a Level 1 coaching accreditation, and is registered with the SportSG National Registry of Coaches (NROC). Having years of experience coaching dinghies and keelboats, Cheryl is one of the most respected coaches in Singapore.
Daniel Ian Toh
Daniel has been sailing 15 years and is the NUS Class Captain as well as the current Vice Captain of the SB20 Association. A Singapore National Team sailor since the age of 11, he has represented his country in the SEA Games (Silver & Bronze medals), Asian Games and multiple International regattas including the recent SB20 World Championships in Dubai where he finished a strong 22nd overall and 5th Youth. He is a National Champion in the SB20 and also won the Singapore WASPZ regatta in 2023 as part of the Sail GP event. As Class Captain of the NUS sailing club he has introduced many new and past sailors to SB20 sailing and helped grow the University teams participation in sailing.
Yi Nian Koh
Yi Nian has 15 years of sailing experience, starting in the Optimist and has been a Singapore National Squad Member since the age of 12. A North American Champion, SEA Games Silver and Bronze Medalist in the Optimist Class and Asian Games 6th in the olympic 49er class, he has recently retuned from a successful SB20 World Championship campaign representing NUS in Dubai. Having past podium finishes in SB20 events including the National Championships and completing his NROC Level 1 Coaching course recently, he is gaining a reputation as one of the finest young coaches in Singapore.
